Apulien, Sélection Landolt Weine

Primitivo is a red grape variety, which is mainly native to southern Italy, in Puglia. Its origin is in Croatia. The main area of Primitivo is between Brindisi, Lecce and Taranto. The DOC zone Manduria in the western part of the Salento peninsula is the center of the Primitivos and with its many hours of sunshine responsible for the feeling of well-being. Benedictine monks were very influential in naming. The Latin word primativus does not mean that the primitivo is unpretentious, but that the grapes are ripe early.
