The farm Azienda Agricola Capanna, owned by the Cencioni family since 1957, is located north of Montalcino in the Montosoli area. The company was founded by Giuseppe Cencioni, who was supported by his sons Benito and Franco. Capanna was one of the first winemakers of modern Brunello. Already in the 1960s, began to fill their own wines, and after the recognition of the Denomination of Origin Brunello di Montalcino DOCG in 1966 Giuseppe was one of the 25 founding members of the wine consortium Brunello di Montalcino. The company Capanna is still a pure family business, both in agricultural management and in winemaking. The vineyards of the farm are all located north of Montalcino in the area around Montosoli, which has always been considered one of the best of the territory, and are oriented to the southeast. The special microclim ate, together with the favorable characteristics of the soil, determines the production of wines with an outstanding structure, which are elegant and fruity, and are characterized by a good acidity. Capanna is a premium producer, the wines produced are of uniquely high quality.
