Due to its warm and fertile climate, Ticino, the Italian speaking part of Switzerland, is often called the "sun studio" of the country. Since the beginning of the 20th century, Merlot, the grape variety from Bordeaux has been cultivated here with great success. The typical Merlot wine is of an intense red colour with aromas of pepper, wild berries and undergrowth. It has a good structure without being overloaded. To be enjoyed with typical Ticino cuisine, a veal roast, potatoes in the skin with a selection of cheese and grilled saltwater fish.
In 1792, three brothers of the family Corti Balerna have founded this company to operate wine business. The company has since remained in possession of the descendants of the founder and has always skillfully adapted to the changing conditions.Today, processes the Fratelli Corti SA Merlot grapes from the many private wineries Mendrisiotto, totaling about 1,000 quintals per year.
